ZeroCapture Studio turns your device into a green-screen photo booth. Guests stand in front of the green screen, see themselves on a backdrop live, and take photos with a Bluetooth remote. They never need to touch the screen.
What you need
- The device, with ZeroCapture Studio installed from Google Play.
- A stand or tripod that holds the device at chest to eye height.
- The chroma-green screen.
- The Bluetooth remote.
- A charging cable and power. The camera and screen run all night, so keep the device plugged in.
Where to put everything
- Put the green screen against a wall or on its stand, and pull it flat. Wrinkles and folds make shadows, and shadows are hard to key out.
- Stand the device 1.5 to 3 metres from where guests will stand, at about chest to eye height, with the camera facing the guests.
- Mark a spot on the floor (tape works well) about 1 to 2 metres in front of the green screen. Guests who stand there won't cast shadows on the screen, and less green light bounces back onto them. This green glow is called "spill".
- Check the green screen fills the whole camera view behind the guests. Anything that isn't green, like a wall edge or the floor, shows up in the photo.
Lighting
- Light the screen evenly. Two soft lights, one each side of the screen, work better than one bright light. Avoid hot spots and dark corners.
- Light the guests on their own. A light in front of them, slightly above, makes them stand out from the screen.
- Keep shadows off the screen. If you can see a guest's shadow on the green, move them forward or raise the lights.
- Keep bright windows and coloured lights out of the shot. Green or yellow event lighting makes keying harder.
When everything is in place, key the green screen under the event lighting. See Keying the green screen.
What guests should know
- Don't wear green. Green clothes, and very shiny or see-through fabrics, can disappear into the backdrop. Tell your client in advance if you can.
- Glasses, sequins and glossy balloons can pick up a green tint. Spill removal helps with this.
- Stand on the floor mark, and press the remote to start. The booth counts down before each photo.
Before your first event
- Work through the First run steps, including changing the admin PIN.
- Pair the remote and test it.
- Take a few test photos at the venue before guests arrive.
