Two pages that the booth serves to other devices on the same Wi-Fi: Today's photos, a live photo wall for guests, and Monitor, a status page for you. Today's photos is on Personal and White label; Monitor is White label only.
Before you start
Both pages are served by the booth itself, the same way as QR codes. So they need:
- Share photos with a QR code turned on in admin > Sharing. While it's off, the pages aren't served, and Sharing asks you to turn it on. See Sharing with a QR code.
- The other device on the same Wi-Fi as the booth (the venue's Wi-Fi or the device's hotspot).
- The booth app open and running.
They need no account and upload nothing.
Today's photos
A live grid of the photos guests may see in the gallery, newest first, for a second screen beside the booth: another device, a laptop or a TV's browser. New photos appear at the top every few seconds, without reloading.
- Open admin > Sharing and turn on Today's photos.
- A QR code and a link appear under it. Scan the code with the other device, or type the address into its browser.
On the page, a tap on a photo opens it full size with its own QR code and Scan to get this photo (Scan to get this video for a boomerang or video; on a phone held upright the code sits under it), so guests can download a photo from the second screen as they would from the result. On White label the page uses the booth's look, with your branding only. On Personal it uses the plan's look, as the QR code page does: a ready-made skin, the ZeroCapture logo unless you've hidden it, and "Powered by ZeroCapture Studio" at the bottom. It shows the same events as the guest gallery (set in Events).
Screen styles
Today's photos can be more than a grid. Each event has its own Screen style, and the page draws the current event's style:
- Grid: the grid described above, with a tap to open a photo and its QR code.
- Mosaic: a slowly moving wall of photos. Each new photo zooms in full screen, then flies into its place.
- Spotlight: one photo at a time, full screen, with a slow pan and zoom.
- Carousel: a turning 3D ring of photos, the newest added at the front.
- Polaroids: prints drop onto a table and pile up.
White label has all five styles. Personal has Grid and Mosaic; the other three show locked. On Free the row is locked.
In every style but Grid, a new photo shows full screen for 4 seconds first, with its QR code while QR codes on Today's photos is on, so guests walking past can take it.
To choose one:
- Open admin > Events, and tap Edit on the event (or create a New event).
- Under Screen style, tap a style. Tap Preview to see it full screen on this device, with the event's photos or sample photos.
- Turn Show the event name on screen on or off, then tap Save.
Under the styles, {Style} options opens that style's settings, for example the Mosaic's pan speed and direction, how often a photo zooms and whether it picks one at random or in the order they were taken; Spotlight's time per photo and transition; the Carousel's turn speed and front zoom; or how many prints Polaroids keeps on the table. New photo full screen for sets how long each new photo shows full screen first, or turns that off. Each event keeps its own choices for each style, Preview shows them, and Back to the defaults undoes them.
The event list shows each event's style beside its name. Change the style or the current event during the party and an open screen switches within 10 seconds, without reloading. New events start on Mosaic; events made before this update stay on Grid.
On a touch screen (or with a mouse), guests can join in. In the Mosaic, drag to move around and tap a photo to zoom it with its QR code. In Spotlight, swipe to the next or previous photo. In the Carousel, a touch pauses the ring so a guest can scan the code, and dragging turns it by hand. In Polaroids, tap a print to bring it to the front with its code. Tap outside an opened photo to close it; it also closes by itself after a few seconds. QR code position in each style's options sets which corner or side the code appears on.
Which screens work best. A Fire TV Stick, a Chromecast with Google TV, or a laptop connected to the TV over HDMI. A smart TV's own browser may be too slow for the 3D styles: the page then switches by itself to a simpler, flat version of the same style. When the page opens, it shows a large Full screen button; press it (or OK on a TV remote). The screen stays awake, and the mouse pointer hides. If the screen loses the booth, it keeps showing its photos and reconnects by itself.
Monitor
A read-only status page for your phone, so you can check on the booth from across the room.
- Open admin > Sharing and turn on Monitor.
- Scan the QR code with your phone, or type the address into its browser.
- Enter the admin PIN on your phone.
The page refreshes every 5 seconds and shows:
- your plan and the app's version
- the current event, and photos today, in the last 7 days and in all
- when the last photo was taken, with a thumbnail
- what the booth is doing: live, counting down, showing the photo, the attract screen, a message, or camera stopped
- the battery, whether it's charging, and free storage
- the camera, QR sharing, ZeroCapture Cloud uploads and SMS credits, where they're on
Monitor changes nothing on the booth: it has no buttons except Sign out. Wrong PINs are limited as on the PIN pad, with their own count, so tries from a phone never lock the booth's PIN pad. Forgot PIN? isn't offered there.
Turning them off
Turn the switch off, or turn off QR sharing, and the page's link stops at once. If your plan drops below White label, Monitor stops, and on Personal Today's photos carries on in ZeroCapture's look, drawing Grid for any style Personal doesn't have; on Free, both pages stop. They come back with the plan, and so does each event's chosen style.
The Dashboard's Second screen and Monitor card shows whether each is on and how many devices viewed it in the last 10 minutes. See Dashboard.
