Every photo is saved on the device as soon as it's taken. Guests can get a copy in two ways: the Share button in the gallery, or a QR code they scan with their phone.
The Share button
In the gallery, a guest taps a photo, then Share. Android's share sheet opens (Quick Share, email, messaging apps and so on). It needs whatever the chosen app needs, such as Bluetooth or mobile data.
QR codes over Wi-Fi
Guests scan a QR code with their phone's camera and download the photo straight from the device. Nothing goes over the internet.
To turn it on, open admin > Sharing and turn on Share photos with a QR code.
The device and the guest's phone must be on the same Wi-Fi network. You can do this two ways:
- Venue Wi-Fi: connect the device to it and ask guests to join the same network. This is the best way, because guests keep their internet. Some venue and guest networks stop devices reaching each other; if codes won't load, use the hotspot instead.
- The device's hotspot: turn on Mobile hotspot in Android settings and give guests the network name and password, for example on a sign by the booth.
When it's working, Sharing says Ready. Guests' phones need to join the same Wi-Fi as this device. If it says Not reachable. Connect this device to Wi-Fi or turn on its hotspot., fix the connection first.
Where guests see the code
- On the result screen, beside the photo, with Scan to get your photo. Turn this on or off with QR code beside the photo in Timing & wording. The result stays on screen longer while a code shows (12 seconds by default).
- In the gallery, by tapping a photo and then QR code.
The code opens a page with the photo and a Save photo button, in the booth's look. For a boomerang or video it shows the clip with Save video, and for a boomerang Save GIF as well. Below White label the page ends with "Powered by ZeroCapture Studio".
How long links last
Each photo gets its own private link that nobody can guess. It works for Download links last (8 hours by default). On Free, links always last 8 hours; Personal can choose up to 14 days and White label up to 30 days.
- After that, the guest's phone shows Link expired. Showing the photo's QR code again in the gallery makes a fresh one.
- Turning QR sharing off, or closing the app, ends every link.
- A link only opens while the booth is on and the guest's phone is on the same network as the device. For links meant to last past the end of the event, turn on Keep QR links after the app restarts (off by default): links already shown then keep working after the app or the device restarts, until they run out.
Online QR codes
With ZeroCapture Cloud, an event can use Online QR codes instead. They open the photo on zerocapturestudio.com, so guests' phones need any internet but not the booth's Wi-Fi. See ZeroCapture Cloud. Share photos with a QR code stays the master switch for both kinds.
Also on the guest's phone
On White label, the QR page can also ask for guest details (see Guests) and offer the photo by email or SMS (see Emailing guests their photos and Sending photos by SMS).
If codes won't load, see Fixing common problems. For every setting, see Sharing.
