Green screen sets how the booth removes the background behind guests and puts the backdrop in its place. Set it at the venue, under the event lighting, with someone standing where guests will stand.
Background
At the top, choose how the background is removed:
- Green screen (the default): the booth replaces the green behind guests with the backdrop.
- No green screen (on-device AI): the app finds the people in the picture itself, on this device. Nothing leaves it. On a device that can't run it, this choice is dimmed with Not available on this device. If on-device AI was chosen and stops working, the booth keys the green screen instead and says so here, in the booth's green screen panel and in the setup guide: put a lit green screen behind your guests.
A lit green screen always gives the best result. Without one, hair, glasses, thin props and fast movement can show rough edges. Both work on every plan.
The preview
The preview shows the live result over a test backdrop. Tap Test background on over its corner to see the plain camera, and again to bring the backdrop back.
Key colour
Tap Pick from the screen, then tap a typical area of the green screen. Avoid the brightest or darkest spot. To fine-tune it, tap the round swatch next to Key colour and drag on the colour wheel. Tap Done to keep it or Cancel to go back. The round reset button resets just the colour.
Show matte
Turn on Show matte to see the key in black and white. White is kept. Black is replaced by the backdrop. You want people solid white and the screen solid black. It turns itself off when you leave.
The sliders
- Similarity (30% by default): how much green counts as the screen. Raise it if patches of green still show. Lower it if parts of people disappear.
- Edge softness (20% by default): softens hair and outlines. Lower it if you see a blurry halo.
- Spill removal (50% by default): takes the green tint off people. Raise it for a green fringe on hair.
Each slider saves when you lift your finger. Reset to defaults puts the key colour and all three sliders back. With on-device AI, only Show matte and Edge softness are shown.
Tips
- Set the Camera first, then key. Camera settings change what the key works on.
- If nothing gets a clean key, fix the lighting: light the screen evenly and move guests further forward. See Setting up the green screen.
- The same controls are on the booth's Backdrop tab under Green screen. On White label you can hide that button in Booth defaults.
